Rhassoul Clay As a Perfect Ingredient For Facial Masks



Many years ago rhassoul clay was widespread among the nobility of ancient Egypt and Rome. They often used it as a shampoo, soap and other cleansing cosmetic products. This clay has always been popular and nothing has changed till now. It is still one of the basic ingredients that is used in production of luxurious cosmetics and it is even one of the major components in Hammam.



The origin of this word is very interesting. It comes from Arabic word 'rassala' that can be understood as «something that washes». Nowadays rhassoul clay is also known as Ghassouland Red Moroccan clay. It is obtained from sediments which were formed by volcanic ashes. Geographically, the place where it is obtained is Atlas Mountains in Eastern Morocco.

What characteristics do the Rhassoul clay has?


Masks made from Rhassoul are meant for dry and sensitive skin. If to compare them with other clay masks we will see that they have more tender qualities. Rhassoul masks can affect your skin in a very positive way. Skin texture becomes smoother, moisturized and pores are tightened, and your skin looks perfect.

Rhassoul clay mask preparation


Rhassoul clay can be found in flinders which you should turn into powder with the help of blender or a coffee mill. Or there is another way when you can leave pieces of clay in water for ten minutes, mix it and receive a paste.

Rhassoul clay mask application


First of all you should cleanse your face properly with the help of peeling and warm water. You can also steam out your face which will help to open the pores and to receive the maximum effect of the mask. When you have cleaned your face you should apply the mask and leave it on the face for twenty minutes and wait until it dries up.

Then moisturize the mask with warm water and remove it carefully with a towel. To feel the effect you should use it twice a week.

What else can you do with Rassoul clay?


You can make a unique natural cleanser from rassoul clay by yourself! You will have to combine honey, yogurt and clay and mix into a facial lotion which you will have to apply in the morning and in the evening. It is a wonderful lotion that will help you to get rid of cosmetics, dirt and dust from your face.

In Morocco this clay is used as a shampoo. It improves hair structure and gives extra volume. Hair becomes moisturized and combing of hair becomes much easier. If you want your hair to shine then use Rhassoul clay in combination with argan oil.

If skin on your hands is dry and you need treatment then you can make it by yourself. Wet your hands with warm water mixed with any aromatic oil and then apply Rhassoul clay on your hands for twenty minutes. This hand mask will remove dead cells from the skin and strengthen your nails.

This clay can even help in treatment of arthritis because fomentations made from Rhassoul clay warm up joints and improve motion. To enhance the qualities of this mixture and to make it more effective you can add some frankincense oil.
