Homemade Face Mask Recipes in 30 Minute: DIY Volcanic Ash & Clay Face Mask
While watching television one day, I saw a segment on viewer's Homemade Face Mask Recipes, and I must say that I am totally intrigued (after being a little grossed out) at the concept of a face mask made out of Kitty Litter!
The host of the show was not sure about some of these Homemade Face Mask Recipes, but he said the Kitty Litter facial might work, because it is made of organic volcanic ash (which people pay lots of money for) and the Bentonite Clay may help to draw the toxins and oils out of your skin, clearing up pimples and acne.
If you think of it as a clay mask, you won't be nearly as grossed out about putting kitty litter on your face. I would do a spot test to be sure that you don't have any allergies or strange reactions, but I will be trying this Kitty Litter facial as soon as I visit my friend who has a cat and plenty of unused cat litter! If you want a similar facial mask, but don't like the idea of cat litter, you can use Bentonite Clay... and I have used an Aztec Indian Healing Clay brand and can vouch that it is fabulous, especially for acne prone skin!!!
Homemade Face Mask Recipes - Kitty Litter Facial
1. Put some kitty litter in a microwave safe container, along with water.
2. Microwave the water and kitty litter for a few minutes.
3. Mix well and let it cool before applying it to your face.
4. Let the face mask dry and harden for 15 minutes before you rinse it off.
Disclaimer: I would highly recommend NOT putting any mask, especially one made of cat litter, close to your eyes or mouth! As always, do a spot test to test for allergies before applying any Homemade Face Mask Recipes.
Lavender and Rosemary Moisturizer For Oily Skin by Sophia Uliano
Excess oil production in the face can be nasty and it can certainly affect how we feel about ourselves and they way other people see us. If you struggle with oily skin and have been frustrated over the many remedies you've tried that don't seem to work, well this may be your lucky day. Today's recipe contains some of the most powerful, yet natural remedies for oily skin - jojoba oil, lavender oil, rosemary oil and beeswax!
Jojoba oil works wonders for oily skin. It protects and moisturizes oily skin while it helps to balance sebum, and it also makes a good base oil for combination skin types too. Lavender oil tones and revitalizes the skin and is actually useful for all types of skin problems such as acne, oily skin, boils, burns, sunburn, and even insect bites and stings! Rosemary oil helps in toning the skin and removing dryness. Beeswax, on the other hand:
* locks in moisture
* protects skin from damaging environmental factors
* effectively softens the skin
* is a naturally nourishing moisturizer
* is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-allergenic

Lavender and Rosemary Moisturizer
This is a beautifully therapeutic moisturizer for oily skin. The combination of the essential oils is antiseptic and antibacterial, so it can help with skin that is prone to pimples or acne.
Ingredients:
- 1 tsp. beeswax
- 2 tsp. cocoa butter
- 4 tbsp. jojoba oil
- 4 tsp. emulsifying wax
- 4 tbsp. lavender infusion*
- 5 drops rosemary essential oil
- 5 drops lavender essential oil
- 5 drops chamomile essential oil
*Lavender infusion is made by pouring ½ cup of boiling water over 1 tbsp dried lavender flowers. Leave it to steep for half an hour. Drain off the lavender water and discard the flowers.
Directions: Homemade Face Mask Recipes
1. Heat the beeswax, cocoa butter, and jojoba oil in a bowl set over a saucepan of boiling water. Stir until the wax has melted. Remove the bowl from heat.
2. Place the emulsifying wax and lavender infusion in another bowl and put it over the same saucepan of boiling water, stirring until the wax dissolves.
3. It's vital that you make sure the base oil mixture and the lavender infusion are about the same temperature before you combine them. Dip the tip of your finger in each bowl to see that it's warm (not too hot and not too cool). Very slowly add the infusion to the oil mixture, whisking vigorously. Be very sure you add the infusion mixture extremely slowly to keep the preparation from separating.
4. When the mixture cools, stir in the essential oils.
5. Spoon the mixture into a dark colored job and only screw on the lid when it's completely cooled.
Use morning and evening, after toning.
